I'm sure everyone has a Work at Home Mom friend.. Someone who stays home with their kids while still managing to pull in an income without physically going to work. I'm one of those moms and so is my friend Jen.
It really is great. We get to be there for our kids' school trips and parties. We don't have to use PTO if we have a kiddo who's under the weather. We can take a couple weeks off if we feel like it with only ourselves to answer to.
There's a flip side to that bright, shiny coin though! Us Work at Home Moms are ALWAYS home and we're ALWAYS at work. 100% of the time. We are trying to answer emails with little fingers tugging at our shirts for a juice refill. We're working on tax prep for our businesses when we hear a loud BOOM followed by a cry for Mom. We're constantly being interrupted while working which results in our work taking twice as long as it would if we got to go the a quiet office each day. We work into the wee hours of the morning so we can continue to be successful in our business, while being the best moms we can be during the day. Some of us send our kiddos to daycare some of the time; some of us can't fathom spending money on daycare when we'll be home anyway. We truly have the best and worst case scenarios at the same time.
While most of us wouldn't change it, it's nice to be able to show everyone how hard it really can be to be both Mom and Bosslady at the same time.
If you don't do the Work at Home Mom thing, it can be easy to only see the positive side. I invite you to flip through this slideshow and try and imagine doing your job with your kids right there with you. Every. Single. Day. <3
