The head in hands pose is a very popular one among moms, and rightfully so... It's adorable! One important thing to know about this pose, is it is a composite meaning it is part of two images to create the illusion that Baby is holding his her head like so.
I know some new photographers aren't aware of this, so making this known is VERY important to keep these beautiful babies safe! There are some photographers who have a method of creating a wedge to support Baby, but this is not something I'm familiar with and would strongly discourage attempting if you haven't been properly trained by an experienced newborn photographer.
This pose takes practice, patience and editing skills to achieve so be prepared to work before you master the editing techniques! I hope you enjoy this tutorial! Please share to help spread the word about newborn safety!

The example I used in this tutorial was actually part of a twin head in hands shot. To produce an image like the one before you can either have two assistants and position both babies as shown in the video or you can photograph each baby individually. In this case, we tried for a while to get Kash and Sawyer positioned together, but one baby would wake up as soon as we got the other positioned, so we took this route :) I put Kash's images together and put Sawyer's images together then added them together using the same technique.
Thank you to all my wonderful vendors!
