What the...?

Yes.. I am aware that I have posted a photo of my friend sticking her finger up my nose, but this face says it all... "What the french toast is happening?"

I never had a blog before because I don't understand them. I don't know what interests people... I sure don't have time to waste writing blog posts if no one is going to read them so I want to hear from you. What do YOU want from this blog? Do you want to know more about my personal life? More about who I really am? Do you want more photography tips and tricks? Do you just want to come here to see new session photos?

Help! What do you want from me?

I could go on and on about how badly I'm annoyed by political talk on social media (because I'm sure Facebook posts have actually made people rethink their political party affiliation) and the ignorance of racists and homophobic mother fu... Umm, jerkfaces... I could tell you that I have never seen The Sound of Music and that I feel asleep during The Notebook because I was bored out of my mind. l can talk about all the teeny boppers I met as a kid...Or how I always have and always will love Britney Spears. I could talk about my love for Dave Matthews (it may be borderline unhealthy) ... Or why I think cat people are weird...

Just to clarify, that would be people who prefer cats over dogs, not human/cat hybrids. I know it sounds ridiculous to have to specifically say that, but there's always that one person who's like "I've never seen a cat person before. HA! HA! HA!" <--- You're an idiot. Please stop talking now.

I can be fun! I can be rude, controversial, motivational, sarcastic... freaking hilarious.. I can do it all!

I'll hop off this horse now. He's really high.

Again, just to clarify... This horse I speak of.. He's tall, not stoned.

I can talk about how to treat others and be a helpful, kind, generous person. I could talk about how I never knew if I believed in God and started praying two years ago just to see what would happen. I could tell you about the time in 2011 when I saw a psychic and how that changed my life completely. I could tell you about what was going through my head when I put my life on hold to help a family who was about to lose their baby boy. I could tell you how my grandpa raised me as his own daughter and how I still feel broken by his passing.

I could go over tips and tricks for aspiring photographers... Or maybe tell my story of LPC and what I would do differently if I could. I could rant and rave about the people who support their aspiring photographer friends while they're getting free or discounted shoots, then bail when they are no longer getting portfolio-building discounts... There is SO MUCH!

But none of that matters if that's not what you want to read about. Should I stick to the professional talk? Or get a little rude and inappropriate from time to time? I want to hear from YOU! Leave your thoughts and ideas in the comments section of this blogpost.. I will use your comments as a guide for future posts :)

THANK YOOOUUU!!!

The Uncooperative Child

It's happened to every photographer mom. You love taking photos of babies and children and don't be afraid to admit it.. You're pretty darn good at it. You're walking around Target and realize your little one is about to hit a milestone. You decide to grab a new shirt or two, head home (or to your studio) and pull out the backdrops.

Then this happens...

Double-you. Tee. Eff.

Why? How?... Seriously?!

Well, this happened to me this morning with my 18 month-old son, Bekker. He has always been pretty good for his photos.. The one year photos were a little rough, but not too terrible... Today? UGGGHHHH!!!

The thing is, all 18 month-olds are hard to photograph indoors. They can walk and run now, so why would they want to sit there and look cute when they can run around and piss everyone off? That's way more fun than sitting still and being quiet, don't you agree?

I gave up because I can.. I can whip the drops out at any time and re-do these. I probably won't though because this is how he really is at this age.. Independent and BUSY! I got a couple decent smiley photos too, but these are my favorites because they're REAL.

So, for all you moms who get embarrassed because your child isn't being the most cooperative, it's all good! It happens to all of us at some point! The important thing to remember is that it's the age, not the kid! This isn't my first rodeo so I totally understand and expect whatever behavior your kiddo brings the day of your session :)
